KUCHING, May 10: Mothers play a powerful role not just in families, but in shaping the very fabric of society; there is no greater treasure in this world that can compare to a mother’s love, sacrifice, and strength, Sarawak Governor (TYT) Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar said.
In his Mother’s Day tribute, he highlighted a mother’s role as the bedrock of family and nation-building, noting that the values instilled by mothers become the foundation for creating wise leaders and responsible citizens.
“In the hands of a mother, the future generation is formed; wise leaders, people who are devoted to the community, state, country and the world,” he said.
“The role of a mother is very important in shaping the personality, character and pure values in children. Through the care and love of a mother, knowledgeable, integrity and competitive individuals are born, who are able to lead the country towards progress and prosperity.”
He further pointed out that history proves that behind every great leader, there is a mother who is a source of strength and inspiration.
“The household is the first madrasah, and the mother is the main educator in shaping the role model of children,” he added.
“All their sacrifices are poured out regardless of fatigue and tiredness, with tears and sweat, simply to ensure that children grow up in prosperous and successful,” he said.
The Governor also reflected on the deep emotional strength and patience shown by mothers.
“Even though she is tired from working or managing the household, mothers still treat their children with patience and love. When we face sadness or failure, mothers are there to calm our hearts and give encouragement. A mother’s prayer is the most powerful weapon, the cure for all sorrows.”
Together with his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, Wan Junaidi extended their deepest appreciation and prayers for mothers across the State and nation.
“May Allah Subhanahu Wata’ala always grant health, happiness and blessings to all mothers.”
To those whose mothers have passed on, he advised to pray and give charity as a sign of lasting love.
He also called for lifelong appreciation and respect towards parents – not just on Mother’s Day, but every day. – DayakDaily
