MIR, June 25: A total of 92 out of 182 Chinese National-Type Schools (SJKC) in Sarawak have been equipped with smart classroom facilities, marking steady progress in the State’s push towards digital education transformation.

Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian said the integration of digital technology in classrooms is no longer optional, but essential in preparing students for an increasingly technology-driven future.

He added that the remaining schools yet to receive smart classroom facilities will continue to be supported through ongoing efforts by the Sarawak government in collaboration with the Sarawak United Association of Chinese Aided Primary School Boards of Management.

“The Sarawak government, together with the association, will continue to expand this initiative so that more schools can benefit from digital learning in the future,” he said at the launch of the Smart Classroom at SJKC Chung Hua Krokop today.

He stressed that education remains a key priority for the Sarawak government in building a skilled and competitive future workforce.

“Sarawak is not only focusing on infrastructure and economic growth, but is also continuously investing in education to ensure our younger generation has access to quality learning opportunities,” he added.

Meanwhile, in his welcoming remarks, Pujut assemblyman and Miri Mayor Adam Yii Siew Sang said SJKC Chung Hua Krokop is the only school in Miri to receive four sets of smart interactive whiteboards and integrated teaching units under the programme.

He also noted that the school has been allocated more than RM700,000 under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) for various upgrading works, including classroom repairs, hall improvements, teachers’ office renovations, library upgrades, road paving, and drainage systems.

Also present were Transport Minister Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin, Deputy Minister of Tourism Datuk Sebastian Ting, and Sarawak United Association of Chinese Aided Primary School Boards of Management president Datuk Jonathan Chai, along with other distinguished guests. — DayakDaily
