KUCHING, March 4: For a term of 20 years, Sarawak Energy through Syarikat Sesco Berhad (Sesco) will be supplying 90MW of power supply to the Malaysia LNG Sdn Bhd (MLNG) complex in Tanjung Kidurong under Petroliam Nasional Berhad (Petronas).

The Power Purchase Term Sheet agreement to testify this closed cooperation between Sarawak and Petronas was inked earlier this morning at Wisma Bapa Malaysia.

Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg was present to witness the signing of agreement between Sesco represented by Sarawak Energy Group CEO Datu Sharbini Suhaili and MLNG represented by Petronas director and chief executive officer (CEO) Mohamed Syazwan.

“This term sheet signing allows Sarawak to continue to share our renewable energy resources with other energy players in developing a sustainable energy future.

“The commitment to provide 90MW of power supply to the Malaysia LNG complex in Tanjung Kidurong for a term of 20 years indicates confidence in not just Sarawak Energy’s ability to provide power but also attests to Petronas’ confidence in their long-term presence in Sarawak,” he said.

On top of the Commercial Settlement Agreement (CSA) signing between the Sarawak government and Petronas on December 7, 2020, Abang Johari said this consensus today further builds upon the partnership to explore the development of a green hydrogen economy in Sarawak.

“The historic signing of the CSA on Dec 7 last year between Petronas and Sarawak should also be an indication of an enduring partnership between both parties in the development of both the upstream and downstream of the oil and gas resources in Sarawak for our common benefits.

“The agreement today also builds upon the Memorandum of Understanding signed last year between the two parties to jointly explore the commercial production of green hydrogen to progress a green hydrogen economy for Sarawak and beyond,” he added.—DayakDaily
