KUCHING, May 9: Sarawak Deputy Minister for Energy and Environmental Sustainability (Meesty) Dr Hazland Abang Hipni was a panellist at the 1st Malaysian Clean Air International Forum 2023 (MACIF 1.0) themed ‘Sustainable Industries — Mitigation Strategies Towards Blue Skies’ at the Bangi Avenue Convention Centre (BACC) in Kajang, Selangor yesterday.
According to a press release issued by Meesty today, Dr Hazland spoke on the topic ‘Towards Sustainable Industries — Issues, Challenges, and Mitigation Strategies’.
He discussed the role of government policies and regulations in promoting sustainable industries, as well as how industry leaders work with policymakers to effect change.
Also discussed were the incentives that the government can provide to encourage industries to adopt sustainable practices, the potential trade-offs between economic growth and sustainability, how the government can balance these competing priorities, and how government and industry can collaborate to develop a roadmap for transitioning to a more sustainable future.
The forum aimed to provide a platform for networking, discussion, and knowledge sharing on air quality issues.
The forum was managed by MyCAS, a non-governmental organisation registered with the Malaysian Organisations Registration Department (JPPM). The main goal of establishing MyCAS is to address global and national air quality issues.
Clean Air Asia (CAA), an agency of the International Union of Air Pollution Prevention and Environmental Protection Associations (IUAPPA), has been a strategic partner of MyCAS since 2018. MyCAS also successfully organised the Better Air Quality Conference (BAQ), which drew over 700 participants from 50 countries around the world.
The 13th Asia Aerosol Conference 2024 will take place in Kuching in August 2024.
