KUCHING, May 10: A delegation from Sarawak has received an invitation to attend the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP29) in Baku, Azerbaijan, scheduled to take place in November.
According to a TVS news report, the Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Malaysia, Irfan Davudov, extended the invitation to Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg during a courtesy call today at the Premier’s Office in the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUS) building here.
“This is my first courtesy visit and I hope it won’t be the last, as I will forge closer business relations with Sarawak’s universities,” Irfan was quoted as saying in the news report.
Irfan made the remarks when met by reporters after the courtesy call to the Premier.
In addition, he expects that a Malaysian delegation, including Sarawak, will participate in the conference, as it is a matter of great importance for the governance and business sectors.
Irfan also expressed belief that both sides have potential for advancement in the fields of economics, education, humanitarianism, and culture.
Also present for the courtesy visit was the Director of the Foreign Ministry’s Sarawak Regional Office, Fenny Nuli. — DayakDaily
