KUCHING, March 7: The grand inauguration of the Sarawak Court Gallery in Kuching marks a momentous occasion, with Chief Judge of Sabah and Sarawak Tan Sri Dato’ Abdul Rahman Sebli officiating at the opening ceremony at the Sarawak court complex today.
Its official launch not only extends the legacy of the Sabah and Sarawak Judicial Museum in Kota Kinabalu but also uniquely highlights the State’s profound judicial and legal history.
Families of esteemed legal figures have generously donated a rich array of documents and exhibits to the gallery, offering a compelling narrative that traces the evolution of Sarawak’s courts from their humble beginnings.
“These exhibits serve as a reminder of the enduring power of the law. Let us honour their legacy in the pursuit of justice and equality for all,” Abdul Rahman said and extended his thanks to the families who have made contributions for the gallery.
Sarawak courts’ director, Steve Ritikos said that the court gallery serves to stand as a beacon of learning, reflection, and inspiration for future generations in order to spark their interest and nurture a passion for law and advocacy.
“Sarawak’s own court gallery is finally brought to life,” said Ritikos.
Erected as a testament to the steadfast commitment to justice, the gallery provides a glimpse into the legacy of legal forefathers who unwaveringly upheld its integrity.
