KUCHING, Dec 28: Sarawak Malaysian Action for Justice and Unity (Sarawak MAJU) has expressed its steadfast support for Sabah’s youth participating in an anti-corruption protest expected to take place this December 31 in Kota Kinabalu.
In a statement issued today, Sarawak MAJU co-founder Peter John Jaban said the protest reflects a clear stand against the struggles Sabah has faced.
“We stand firmly with the brave and educated young generation of Sabah. Their decision to rise against corruption is not merely a call for justice but a testament to the unyielding spirit of Sabahans who dare to dream of a brighter and fairer future,” he said.
He added that the courage shown by Sabah’s youth serves as an inspiration as their fight is also Sarawak’s collective struggle.
“Sabah’s youth brings a vision untainted by the failures of the past. They see Sabah as a State that is just and equitable, where governance prioritises the people, not the corrupt elite. Their courage to dream and act ignites the spark for change,” said Peter.
Unlike the older generations who are tied to outdated systems, he said, today’s youth are unburdened by compromises and vested interests.
He added that their moral clarity and cultural values make them a force of unwavering integrity.
“With relentless passion and extraordinary courage, Sabah’s young leaders are ready to bear the heavy responsibility of fighting injustice. Their resilience and refusal to retreat send a clear message—Sabah will no longer be a victim of exploitation.
“They are not only challenging corruption but also reclaiming Sabah’s rights, resources, and future. Their fight is deeply personal, as they bear the consequences of today’s injustices and will live with the outcomes of tomorrow’s decisions,” he said.
The protest is organised by Suara Mahasiswa, comprising Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) students.— DayakDaily
