Rural school set up Internet booths to aid students with revision

SIBU, April 17: SMK Bawang Assan, with the help of its Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), has set up three Internet booths for its students to do their revision.

As schools nationwide have to be closed due to the movement control order (MCO), students have to stay at home.

However, most of the rural students from SMK Bawang Assan do not have their own Internet facility carry out online revision and the school PTA decided to come forward in setting up the booths.

“Our purpose of providing the Internet facility to the students is to enable them to access information provided by their teachers during this period,” the school’s PTA chairman Marcathy Gindau said.

The three Internet booths are located at Rh Jimbun James Semilan, where most of the students are staying the longhouse.

To avoid congestion, each student was given a queue number, he added.

“The students are very happy with the arrangement,” he said.

A student, Christina Pelimon, in praising the association for the great effort, said it allowed them to catch up with their study.

“I could not thank the association as much for providing free Internet for us. We can now do our study and complete assignment pass to us by our teachers,” she said in jest. — DayakDaily
