KUCHING, July 27: A 55-year-old woman riding pillion on a motorcycle lost her life in a fatal accident on Jalan Batu Kawa-Moyan past midnight today.
The deceased has been identified as Voon Ah Fah from Taman Malihah Jaya, Jalan Matang here.
According to Padawan District police chief Supt Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad, the accident occurred when the motorcycle carrying the woman was travelling towards the Moyan traffic light intersection.
At approximately 12.15am, tragedy struck as they were reportedly hit by a Toyota Wish.
“As a result of the collision, the victim suffered severe injuries and tragically succumbed to them. A medical officer from the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) confirmed her passing.
“The motorcyclist also sustained serious injuries to his left leg and facial bruises,” he said in a statement today.
The deceased’s body was sent to the SGH mortuary, while the injured motorcyclist was rushed to the SGH emergency unit for further treatment.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act (APJ) 1987. — DayakDaily
