KUCHING, June 21: Sentosa Hospital now sports a new look following the completion of two important projects under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP), with an allocation of RM400,000.

According to the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS), Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap stated that although the allocated amount may seem small, it has had a significant impact in addressing the hospital’s urgent needs, particularly in terms of basic infrastructure and rehabilitation services.

One of the main components of the project was the construction of 40 new parking bays, which included earthworks, premix bitumen surfacing, parking line painting, and drainage system installation.

This initiative addressed the long-standing issue of insufficient parking spaces, a frequent complaint from both hospital visitors and staff.

Additionally, comprehensive upgrades were carried out at the Occupational and Rehabilitation Therapy Hall, involving rewiring of electrical systems, installation of additional lights and sockets, fitting of 11 split-unit air conditioners, replacement of windows, modification of the stage and backdrop, construction of brick walls for office and counselling rooms, and repainting of the entire hall.

These enhancements are expected to provide a more conducive and comfortable environment for both patients and healthcare workers.

Yap also expressed his appreciation to the Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) as the implementing agency, as well as to the engineers, officers, and contractors who carried out the project with professionalism and high commitment.

He also announced an additional allocation of RM200,000 under the 2026 RTP to carry out further urgent upgrades at Sentosa Hospital.

“No community should be left behind when it comes to access to quality healthcare and proper support facilities.

“Let us continue to work together to improve the quality of life and public services for all residents of Kota Sentosa,” he said. — DayakDaily
