KUCHING, Oct 23: RM100,000 has been allocated for SK Satria Jaya in Taman BDC here under Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap’s 2023 Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) project funding to carry out the requested upgrading works at the school, which will be implemented and supervised by the Kuching South City Council (MBKS).
Yap has requested a site visit with MBKS councillors and officers to brief them on the requests made by the Parent Teacher Association of SK Satria Jaya for them to prepare the plans, specifications, and bill of quantities for the upgrading works, according to a press release issued by Yap today.
“The MBKS officers were requested to speed up the preparation of the scope of upgrading works for the flooring of the school’s assembly hall to ensure the benefits from the upgrading works can be delivered on schedule for the benefit of the students of SK Satria Jaya,” read the press release.
Furthermore, during the site visit, Alex Pega, the president of the school’s Parent Teachers Association, also requested Yap for additional RTP funding to repair a section of the roofing of a school block leaking badly.
“YB Wilfred Yap requested a supplementary list of other defects for repairs based on their urgency and priority and will submit another application for an extra RM100,000 under his RTP funding for 2024 to assist the school in resolving all the repair works needed to carry out.
“YB Wilfred Yap is committed to improving the facilities of all the schools in N12 Kota Sentosa and will continue to systematically and fairly allocate his RTP funding for their repairs and upgrading works.
“This is because adequate and properly maintained school facilities play a vital role in students’ development by providing an ideal study environment that is both beneficial and conducive to teaching and learning,” it noted. — DayakDaily
