KUCHING, July 30: Padungan assemblyman Wong King Wei’s resignation from DAP is a personal one and one he believes will pave the way to a “happier life”.

As such, he has felt much relief after making the decision.

“It’s a big decision for me personally, and after I made the decision, I decided to move on.

“It is a big decision for myself and my future. I just want to be fair to myself, to allow myself to enjoy a happier life. In short, I just want to be happy.

“So I do (sic) it for my family and myself and made the decision. After the decision, I feel very much relieved,” Wong told the media when making rounds at India Street and Carpenter Street to thank the voters.

Wong dismissed all rumours and speculations with regards to his resignation from Democratic Action Party (DAP) with a shrug as he could not help it if others chose to refuse to accept what he already clarified in his statement dated July 26, 2020 when he officially announced his resignation.

To him, everyone has the right to their own opinion and he could only leave the rumours and speculations as they are.

“There are a lot of rumours, (they) all have the right to talk and if my statement is not clear enough, then there is no more need for me to explain.

“If they feel that what I have said in the statement is unacceptable, there is no point for me to try to convince them.

“Because this decision is my act for responsibilities to my family and myself and those around me. It is a personal decision. If others can’t believe or accept, then I can only say I am sorry,” said Wong.

He added he is still passionate about politics but will only be involved in cultural and development aspects of Padungan such as helping to promote tourism for the area. — DayakDaily
