KUCHING, March 25: Dudong assemblyman Dato Sri Tiong King Sing is working together with Petroleum Sarawak Berhad (Petros) to help Dudong households to exchange yellow gas cylinders for red ones.
In a Facebook post on March 23, Tiong who is the Federal Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) and Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) president, said his team has recently approached Petros to raise the matter.
Following the meeting, he said the company’s distributors will be in the constituency on different dates to facilitate the exchange of the gas cylinders.
People who wish to redeem their red tanks only need to pay RM20, and the rest of the cost will be subsidised by PDP to help the people of Dudong constituency.
“I also appeal to Yang Berhormat ADUNs and MPs in other constituencies to not mislead their constituents to go to the exchange locations to redeem red tanks (without registration) in order to maintain order and prevent unwholesome incidents from occurring.
“I suggest that if residents in other constituencies face similar problems in exchanging their yellow tanks, they should actively seek the assistance of their respective elected representatives in their constituencies.
“Don’t be misled and go to Dudong to try your luck on the spot, and end up empty-handed and disappointed when found to be not eligible for the limited offer,” said Tiong.
The first exchange event took place at SK SEDC yesterday (March 24) where 500 red gas cylinders were offered to only households in Dudong district on a first-come-first-served basis. — DayakDaily
