KUCHING, Sept 14: Sarawak Pay will be renamed “S Pay Global”.
SiliconNet Technologies Sdn Bhd (SNT), the electronic wallet (e-Wallet) operator of Sarawak Pay in a statement today said there will also be a change of logo alongside the name change to reflect its new identity.
SNT explained that the change of name and logo was in line with the announcement made by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg during the launch of Sarawak Pay international payments with UnionPay on March 4, 2021 whereby the latter said it was timely to rename Sarawak Pay e-Wallet to S Pay Global to reinforce its branding and presence on the global stage.
The company said the change was also in line with its growing business as it extends beyond payments of bills and retail transactions to include other financial services such as loans repayment, insurance, donation and so forth.
SNT said all the other financial services shall be featured in its next User App release – version 3.0, under a new segment called Lifestyle.
With the aim to offer greater cashless convenience and better experience to its users,
SNT has also streamlined the Sarawak Pay user app home screen and the user profile as well as account setting.
All the above changes — name and logo, new home screen and addition of lifestyle feature will be released in its next version 3.0 update.
“To all our Sarawak Pay users and merchants, rest assured; when we switch over to
‘S Pay Global’, the balance and the payment history in your Sarawak Pay eWallet
will be intact.
“The above changes will not affect the money in your eWallet. The way you top-up, make payment, scan and pay or view history is still the same.
“You will login using the same username and password. It is still the same eWallet account and payment pin that you currently have.
“All the existing Sarawak Pay merchant QR codes that we have issued will function as
usual and as per normal. There is no change in our QR code when we change name to
‘S Pay Global’, said SNT.
In the weeks to come, newly registered merchants shall be issued with new point of sale materials (POSM) stickers and printed QR Code with the new “S Pay Global” logo.
In its merchant maintenance exercises, SNT will gradually replace the old POSM with the new ones. The printed QR code with the new “S Pay Global” logo shall be deployed to its existing merchants progressively.
In the meantime, SNT has renamed the Sarawak Pay website from http://sarawakpay.gov.my to http://spayglobal.my.
Going forward, all the company’s email communications shall be using its new domain name @spayglobal.my. These include its frequently used emails such as customerservice@spayglobal.my, merchant@spayglobal.my and so on.
