Quick action by public helps avert gas leak disaster

MIRI, Dec 27: Gas was detected billowing out of a gas pipe at a corner shophouse at Phase 4 Permyjaya early this morning.

Following a distress call made by concerned members of the public, a team of seven firemen from Lopeng fire station led by PBK II (KUP) Hana Razali immediately rushed to the scene after responding to an alert at 5.51am on Friday.


They arrived at the scene at 6.02am, together with officers from Sarawak Gas Distribution Sdn Bhd. They managed to close the valve in time.

No injuries were reported in the operation that ended at 6.45am. —DayakDaily
