KUCHING, Oct 27: Pustaka Negeri Sarawak will open and operate as normal during the Maulidur Rasul public holiday this Oct 29.

The library management thus welcomed the public to visit the premises on the day.

Pustaka Negeri Sarawak, in a media release today, also encouraged members of the public to utilise the free Pustaka Sarawak Channel on YouTube which showcases various online programmes and activities at http://www.youtube.com/user/PustakaSarawak/.

In line with the ‘new normal’, the initiative aims to provide an avenue for its programmes and activities to encourage reading to continue as Sarawak continues its fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.

The State Library also hopes to optimise the use of communication and information technology to benefit more people without being limited by time and place.

Pustaka Negeri Sarawak also offers the BookBear Service via the Angka.sa2 app which can be downloaded for free from Google Play Store or the Apple App Store.

BookBear, which has been operating since June 13 this year, is a direct book borrowing service straight to the user’s home.

The service is available from Monday to Saturday from 9am to 5pm.

The initiative aims to ensure users have access to the State Library’s collection of reading materials given that its premises are not fully open to the public yet.
