KUCHING, Aug 22: The Sarawak Islamic Council (MIS) has prohibited all outdoor Maulidur Rasul activities across Sarawak amid the ongoing haze.
In a statement, MIS said the decision covers all outdoor activities held in conjunction with the Maulidur Rasul 1448H/2026M celebrations throughout Sarawak, taking into account the prevailing haze conditions and advice from relevant agencies to safeguard public health and safety.
However, Maulidur Rasul thanksgiving gatherings may still be held at mosques and surau, subject to local conditions and advice from the authorities.
MIS also called on Muslims and the people of Sarawak to pray for the haze to subside soon and for conditions to return to normal.
The council also thanked all parties for their cooperation and concern in dealing with the current situation. — DayakDaily
