KUCHING, April 10: Puncak Borneo Member of Parliament (MP) Datuk Willie Mongin humours netizens after he posted several photos of him on a music stage setup, jokingly saying he is doing a part-time job as a singer.

Based on the Facebook post issued at 10.38pm on April 8, he wrote: “Peruntukan tak cukup terpaksa kerja part-time… Maklumlah dapat peruntukan Rahmah (Inadequate allocation has forced me to work part-time… As you know, I got Rahmah allocation).”

Rahmah refers to a concept that originated from the ‘Menu Rahmah’ initiative introduced by the federal government, which offers affordable and balanced meals, especially for the B40 group.

Several netizens commented on his Facebook post with amusing remarks, among which praised him for looking like a “country singer from Nashville” and requesting songs from him.

Willie also quickly shut down a netizen’s claim that every GPS MP is given Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) funding worth RM5 million.

“Where did you get the fairy tale about GPS MPs getting RM5 million each from the Sarawak government?” he responded.

In February this year, Prime Minister Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim confirmed that the development allowance for MPs had been reduced from RM3.8 million to RM1.3 million to control the country’s finances better. — DayakDaily
