MIRI, April 26: The heavy traffic congestion along the Pujut Padang Kerbau interchange due to ongoing construction works is expected to end this May, says Sarawak’s Minister of Tansport Datuk Sri Lee Kim Shin.

Lee given this assurance when met on Tuesday morning after conducting a site visit at the Pujut Padang Kerbau interchange road.

“Contractors and the Pan Borneo team are doing their very best to finish the construction works by May. For the past week, I have received complaints from motorists on the heavy traffic congestion along the area,” he said.

Lee advised motorists who commute using the interchange road from Permyjaya and vice versa to be patient as the construction works are in progress.

“They (contractors) are trying their very best to complete the construction; the traffic flow will be much smoother when the Sungai Miri Bridge and four-way lanes are opened up,” he explained.

Lee added that he has also proposed to the Public Works Department (JKR) to widen the entire Pujut Padang Kerbau road up to Miri Hospital into a dual carriageway to help ease the traffic congestion. — DayakDaily
