KUCHING, Dec 7: Part Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) Women have rallied behind their chief Dato Sri Doris Sophia Brodie, as they push for her to be considered for a deputy ministerial post in the Federal Cabinet.

Its woman deputy Cr Roseline Neging hopes that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim could consider her (Doris)in his unity government.

“We want the prime minister to consider Doris not only based on merit, but on her administrative experiences as well as in politics and as a leader.

“In short, she has all the elements to be appointed as a deputy minister. Besides that, in the southern part of Sarawak, we still need development and PRS needs to have a Federal Cabinet representative too,” she said in a statement today.

“After all, women are still underrepresented as leaders, including in politics,” she added.

PRS women publicity chief Jenny Crystal Mansang further stressed that Doris is ideal for such a deputy minister post as she has been a political secretary to the Premier’s Office in Sarawak.

“This gave her the edge in executing her duties, as she understands the needs of the people, and what is to be done for development, especially in a rural setting.

Jenny explained that if given the post, she can make many women in Sarawak, especially the Iban women and their community proud as it can motivate them to play a larger role in society.

“The post would just be a continuity of her services to the people and a bigger role to assist rural development in the country and notably for Sarawak,” she said. — DayakDaily
