KUCHING, March 3: Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) aims to put its lawmakers in position to assist in administering the country in the best interest of Sarawak and Sarawakians, now that the political impasse has been resolved.

Party president Tan Sri Dr James Jemut Masing emphasised that PRS, as part of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS), had played its part in stabilising the nation which had plunged into a week-long political turmoil over the country’s leadership.

“PRS has carried out its first and foremost objective which was to stabilise the nation by resolving the political impasse of prime ministership in appointing Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as the new Prime Minister,” he said in a statement today.

The Deputy Chief Minister added that the second objective was to cater for the interests of Sarawak and its people.

“Our third objective is put our lawmakers in a position so they can assist in administering our country.

“It must be in this order, and appointment to position is the last and only if our position given could serve Sarawakians,” he pointed out.

On March 1, Masing urged all politicians across the political divide to focus on uniting the people and developing Malaysia as a whole for the good of the nation after Muhyiddin was officially sworn in as the 8th Prime Minister.

“Forget political rhetorics for a while and, for goodness sake, stop ‘horse trading’ in order to gain power,” he said.

He had also urged all political leaders and members of parliament (MPs) to forget and forgive the past so that all could focus their strength in administering this country.
