PRS members halt attempt to cart away GE14 campaign materials

Party members are seen making an attempt to transport campaign material from PRS headquarters to the constituency of their supported candidate wannabe.

KUCHING, April 10: Some Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) candidate wannabes tried to make the pre-emptive move of transporting the party’s 14th General Election (GE14) campaign material to their own constituencies.

According to a party insider, some PRS members came to the party’s old headquarters at Jalan Pending here with a truck this morning.

Upon arrival, these members immediately made an attempt to move some campaign materials into the truck without any permission.

“They were stopped by other members in the headquarters because the instruction we have is that the material will only be given away to each candidate after BN (Barisan Nasional) chairman (Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak) announces the candidate list.

“We are very upset that this kind of thing is happening in our party. To protect themselves, the janitor and the office staff at the old headquarters are mulling over whether to make a police report.

“At the moment, we can’t give away any campaign material because we are not even sure who are the identified BN candidates,” said the party insider.

Despite the attempt of the earlier mentioned party members in trying to talk their way through, they did not manage to transport away any campaign material.

When contacted, PRS president Tan Sri Dr James Jemut Masing expressed disappointment over the lack of discipline of potential candidates.

“I don’t understand why our potential candidates are acting so recklessly. Such an incident has never happened in our party before.

“I would advise all the potential candidates or those who think that they are potential candidates to be patient. Wait until the announcement from Najib.

“After the announcement, we will give away ample campaign materials for each candidate. There is enough for everyone,” he emphasised. — DayakDaily
