KUCHING, Jan 28: The progress for the construction of the RM26.75 million Sungai Paku Bridge at Tanjung Sebekut in Spaoh is at five per cent, said Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah.
He also said that construction work is progressing according to schedule.
He elaborated that a rescue contractor was appointed to construct it sometime last month after the original contractor had failed to deliver.
Uggah, who is also the Sarawak Minister of Infrastructure and Port Development, visited the bridge site today. Accompanying him was Betong MP Dr Richard Rapu.
The 100-metre-long bridge is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
With piling works completed on one side, workers are currently doing the piling works on the opposite side of the Sungai Paku.
Earlier, Uggah, also Bukit Saban assemblyman, paid Chinese New Year celebration visits to several community leaders in Spaoh. — DayakDaily
