KUCHING, March 7: Sarawak government has approved a fund of RM4 million to improve facilities at the Sungai Tujoh Custom, Immigration, and Security (CIQ) complex in Miri.
Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said the fund is to address traffic congestion of travelers from Brunei including international tourist coming from Brunei coming into Sarawak and vice versa.
“Due to the increase in traffic, the government agencies at ICQS in Sungai Tujoh have applied for an interim improvement of the complex.
“I have agreed with them that we need to have two dedicated area of entry points – one for Malaysians and one for non-Malaysians.
“This involves a fund of RM4 million that has been approved by the Sarawak government,” he told a press conference after visiting the Sungai Tujoh CIQ complex today.
Abang Johari added that he had requested Sarawak Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki to come up with an administrative team to monitor the flow of people coming from Brunei to Malaysia.
He added that the administrative team will also monitor another entry point in Limbang to Sabah. — DayakDaily
