KUCHING, March 7: Thunderstorms, heavy rain, and strong winds are forecasted in eight districts across Sarawak until 9pm today.
The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia), in an advisory notice issued at 5.25pm, identified the affected districts as Sri Aman, Betong, Saratok, Sarikei, Sibu, Kanowit, Kapit and Tatau in Bintulu.
According to the department, a warning is issued when signs of a thunderstorm with rain intensity exceeding 20mm/hour are detected or expected to persist for more than an hour.
It further explained that a thunderstorm warning is a short-term advisory valid for a maximum of six hours per release. — DayakDaily
