KUCHING, Oct 16: Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg received a courtesy call from a delegation from Singapore’s Morrow Architects & Planners Pte Ltd at his office in Wisma Bapa Malaysia here today.
The delegation was led by the company’s chairman Dr Liu Thai-Ker, Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) reported.
According to Liu, the courtesy call aimed to inform the Premier about data updates as well as to discuss several issues regarding Autonomous Rapid Transit (ART) planning in Kuching City.
“What I can stress here is the important role of aligning public transport with land use planning in providing the best transport facility for the people.
“At the moment, I was told that about over 85 per cent of the people in Singapore are using train or bus transportation because they are very efficient,” Liu said when met by the press after the courtesy call.
Also present were Morrow Architects & Planners Pte Ltd director Li Yu Zhuo, Morrow Association member Kim Seon Hee, and Savills’ Integrated Real Estate Advisory Services (IREAS) head and regional director Dr Annie Woo.
Meanwhile, Abang Johari also received a courtesy call from the Sarawak Regatta-Kuching Waterfront Festival 2023 Committee led by Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts (MTCP) Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.
Abdul Karim informed Abang Johari that the 10-day festival which is scheduled to take place from Oct 27 to Nov 5, would be filled with various activities.
The courtesy call also aimed to invite Abang Johari to attend the festival as the guest-of-honour.
