KUCHING, April 25: Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has paid a visit to Solaris Bus in Poland today, accompanied by Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan and Sarawak State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki.
According to a TVS news report, the trip underscores Sarawak’s ongoing commitment to spearhead sustainable public transportation solutions.
Sarawak already has its own fleet of hydrogen and electric buses, and it plans to expand and improve its capabilities.
“Solaris, a leading producer of city and intercity buses in Europe, is renowned for its innovative approach to zero-emission vehicles, including electric and hydrogen buses and trolleybuses.
“The company’s successful adoption of these technologies serves as a model for Sarawak, which is keen on understanding Solaris’ operational scale and advanced manufacturing processes to possibly replicate similar successes.”
TVS further reported that the delegation’s agenda includes discussions with Solaris executives that are aimed at exploring potential collaborations and technology transfers that could support Sarawak’s aspirations for a more eco-friendly public transport network.
It went on to say that from conception, to the design and manufacturing phases, all Solaris buses are produced in Poland. — DayakDaily
