KUCHING, Jan 16: The electricity supply in Bau, Lundu, Sematan and Telok Melano was fully restored this morning at 6:37 am.

According to Sarawak Energy in a statement today, the company’s technicians have completed overnight repair works for the underground cables from Bau to Lundu.

Yesterday, Sarawak Energy said two landslide incidents along the Bau-Lundu main road have affected the power supply to about 9,000 customers in Bau, Lundu, Sematan and Telok Melano.

It added two 33kV overhead lines tripped after the landslide incident damaged an electrical pole and caused underground cable fault due to soil erosion.

It disclosed that the first line was reported to have tripped at about 11:30 pm on Wednesday (Jan 13) and an operation team was immediately deployed to access the impact of the landslide on the fallen pole.

Sarawak Energy added the second line tripped at about 10:45 am yesterday (Jan 15) after another landslide incident damaged the underground cable.
