KUCHING, Oct 9: Police are tracking down eight more individuals believed to be involved in a series of arson cases targeting convenience stores across Sarawak on Sept 20, as investigations into the incidents continue.
Acting Sarawak Police Commissioner DCP Saifullizan Ishak said five local men had been arrested so far to assist in investigations into the cases reported in several districts.
“To date, five local men have been arrested to assist in the investigations. At the same time, police are tracking down eight other individuals believed to be able to assist in the investigations,” he said in a press conference at Kuching Police headquarters today.
Saifullizan said police have released details and photographs of the individuals sought to assist in the investigation.
He urged members of the public with information on the individuals to come forward and contact the investigating officer, Inspector Tan Chung Fung, at 018-2628805 or report to the nearest police station.
He also cautioned the public against making or spreading speculation that could jeopardise the ongoing investigations. — DayakDaily
