On Wednesday, the victim, identified as Christie Fidelis Batest, was said to have left his home to go hunting, carrying a shotgun, at 7.30pm, to a forest area behind his cousin’s house 3km away.

His motorcycle, a blue Modenas with registration number GKX 2242, was found at the location.

The victim’s sibling said he failed to return home by 5pm on Thursday (Oct 8), prompting a search of the surrounding area and enquiries with neighbours, but they found no trace of him.

After continuing the search until evening and growing increasingly concerned about his whereabouts, they sought help from the village head, who then informed the volunteer fire brigade.
