Police seize 27,000 litres of illegal diesel in Sibu worth RM231k after arresting 2 suspects

SIBU, Jan 12: Two men aged 25 and 34 have been taken into custody after police found 27,000 litres of illegal diesel worth RM231,774 in their possession.

Sibu Police Chief ACP Zulkipli Suhaili said today that the duo was arrested by the Marine Police Region Five team during an operation codenamed ‘Ops Kontraban’ between 2.15pm and 3.45pm at two separate places.

“The two suspects were arrested in a vehicle at Jalan Sanyan. The police then proceeded to raid an unnumbered warehouse in Jalan Trusan, Rantau Panjang,” he said.


Upon inspection, they discovered and seized a tanker lorry and tanks filled with 27,000 litres of diesel.

Zulkipli said that the two suspects failed to produce documents or permits from the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDN) for the diesel.

The seized diesel and the case have been referred to KPDN Sibu for further action.

The case is being investigated under the Control of Supplies Act 1961. — DayakDaily
