Police seek public help to identify decomposing body found in Sg Penasu on Aug 28

BINTANGOR, Sept 25: The body of a man who was found floating in Penasu River near here on Aug 28 has yet to be identified.

Meradong District Police Chief, Deputy Superintendent Sekam Anoi, said today that the body was found at 8.10pm shirtless and only wearing dark trousers.

“Investigation is still ongoing and identification efforts are a priority.

“Based on the condition of the body which had decomposed, the police believe it had been in the river for more than five days when it was found,” he said in a statement today.

In that regard, he said, the police requested the cooperation of the public, especially individuals who had lost relatives aged between 30 and 50, to come to the Bintangor Police Station to help with the identification process.
