Police seek public help after 63yo cyclist killed in Batu Niah crash

KUCHING, Nov 30: A 63-year-old male cyclist was killed in an accident that occurred along Jalan Tanjung Lipat, Batu Niah, Miri, on Saturday (Nov 29).

In a statement, Miri police chief ACP Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah said that in the accident which occurred at 5.30pm, the victim was cycling from the Batu Niah market towards Kampung Tanjung Lipat via Jalan Tanjung Lipat, when he was believed to have been hit by a vehicle coming from the opposite direction, from Kampung Tanjung Lipat heading towards the Batu Niah market.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, and the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Members of the public who have information related to this incident are urged to assist the investigation by contacting Traffic Investigating Officer Inspector Mohd Faizul Ab Rahim at 014-8582582 or 085-430479, or any nearby police station.
