KUCHING, April 18: A police report was filed at the Satok police station today against an individual named ‘Charles Roger Francis’ for alleged defamatory remarks made against Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
Speaking to reporters at, political secretary to the Premier, Abdul Samat Gany said the report was made at 12.30pm following a post allegedly made by the individual on Facebook recently, which contained baseless accusations and slurs against Abang Johari and Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu’s (PBB) secretary-general Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi.
“We want the police to take appropriate action against the individual. We will also lodge a report in Sibu, Bintulu and Miri too,” he said.
He added that the case will be investigated under Section 504 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
On the same note, he advised members of the public to refrain from making any statements or comments on social media without any proof to prevent action being taken against them.
Recently, an individual going by ‘Charles Roger Francis’ on Facebook had allegedly created a defamatory post against both Abang Johari and Nanta.
The profile has since been locked by its user as of press time. — DayakDaily
