Police arrest eight suspects for operating illegal cyber gambling, 4D lottery

KUCHING, Oct 25: Eight individuals including one Indonesian were arrested by the police for allegedly running an illegal online gambling and four-digit (4D) operation during “Ops Dadu Khas JOL” conducted yesterday.

According to Bau District police chief DSP Poge Nyaon in a statement, the arrests comprised five local women and two local men, aged between 18 to 49-years-old, and one Indonesian man. The arrests resulted from different raids around Bau and Siniawan by officers from the Sarawak Police Contingent headquarters (IPK Sarawak) Crime Investigation Department (JSJ) at about 2pm.

“Cash amounting RM2,053 were also confiscated during the raids, including various models of smartphones, believed to be used to operate the online gambling kiosk, and paper notes written with 4D and online gambling identification numbers,” he added.


Background checks on all arrested individuals showed no previous record.

“The cases are classified under Section 4(1)(c) of the Common Gambling Houses Act 1953, Section 4A(a) of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953 and Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act,” he added. — DayakDaily
