KUCHING, May 14: The Malaysian unity government will go down in history for its determination to end greed and power abuse practices which have cause the country to suffer huge losses and become despised in the eyes of the world.
Prime Minister Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim said this would be the greatest legacy of the unity government in the country’s political history.
“If people ask me what is so great about the unity government? I will answer them that the squad is great for their commitment to put an end to bad practices that have cost this country a great loss and be despised by the world for its greedy and power-abusing leaders.
“This is the success of its top leadership and the ministers,” he said when speaking at Unity Government National Convention 2023 held at WTC Kuala Lumpur in Kuala Lumpur today.
He further said such record is not a small matter compared to the issues raised by the opposition such as Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) withdrawals and Anwar wearing ‘songkok’ (headgear) or ‘capal’ (footwear) abroad.
“Yang kamu sibuk, sakit hati aku pakai capal sebab apa? Yang penting itu tak ‘sakau’. (Why are you so nosy about me wearing capal? The important thing is that I do not embezzle funds.
“I have told the ministers that they can wear capal, they can wear shoes. They can choose to wear or not to wear ties, as long as they wear clothes.
“What they cannot do is to ‘sakau’ (money),” he added. — DayakDaily
