KUCHING, Sept 30: The Sarawak Bodybuilding Association will organise the Pink Dumbbell Run 2027 here on March 21 next year, featuring 3km and 5km categories to promote fitness, healthy living and community participation.
Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng said the run would start at 6am from the MBKS Foyer and carry the theme “Strong Body, Strong Mind, Beautiful You.”
He said the message emphasised that maintaining good health was not solely about physical appearance but also about building confidence, maintaining a positive mindset and taking care of overall well-being.
Wee said proceeds from the event would be used to help defray the operational costs of sending Sarawak bodybuilding athletes to compete in national and international events.
“This is a meaningful initiative as it not only promotes fitness among the community but also supports our athletes,” he said at the Pink Dumbbell Run 2027 press conference at MBKS Headquarters here today.
The event will also feature Mini Gym Challenges by Turbo Fitness, giving participants an opportunity to take part in fitness activities beyond the run.
Wee said the collaboration between the Sarawak Bodybuilding Association, fitness organisations, community groups and volunteer bodies reflected the importance of working together to promote health and community participation.
He said organisers had also kept participation fees affordable, with registration packages ranging from RM15 to RM55, depending on the entitlements selected.
Participants will receive an official event T-shirt, finisher medal and race bib, and will also stand a chance to take part in a lucky draw.
Registration is open until Feb 21, 2027.
Wee urged members of the public interested in taking part to register early and expressed hope that the event would receive strong public support and eventually become an annual fixture for the Kuching community.
He also thanked the media for helping to promote the event and encouraged the public to come forward and support the initiative.
