MIRI, May 30: A team of four Miri Civil Defence Force (APM) personnel was rushed to a house in Lorong Perkasa 3B phase 6 Senadin, after they were told of an ‘intruder’ sitting on a backyard gate.

It was not an ordinary intruder, but a sub-adult pet monkey belonging to a neighbour.

The monkey was said to have escaped from its cage and started to wander around while the owner was away working.

The discovery was made around 10.27am by a 39-year-old housewife who was on her way to water the plants in the backyard.

Worried, she immediately called APM for assistance.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported as it took APM less than 20 minutes to capture the monkey.

According to APM spokesperson, Miri Wildlife department has been informed on the matter.
