Penang’s Pacific West Dragon Boat Club triumph at S’wak Int’l Dragon Boat Regatta 2022

KUCHING, Oct 30: Pacific West Dragon Boat Club from Penang emerged as champion at the 8th Edition of the Sarawak International Dragon Boat Regatta (SIDBR) which was held at Kuching Waterfront here earlier today.

The team clocked a time of one minute and 10.07 seconds at the finish line, defeating Brunei’s Boneka Paddlers which finished 0.09 seconds later in the International Premier Open 20’s category.

In third and fourth places were Indonesia’s Kapuas Hulu and Sarawak’s Landas, respectively.

Sarawak Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts and Minister for Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah presented the prizes to the winners at a ceremony at Pullman Hotel here earlier tonight.

SIDBR 2022 also featured six other categories, namely International Premier Open 12’s, International Premier Women 12’s, International Premier Mix 12’s, International Masters Mix 40 & Above, International Cancer Survivors Race 12’s and Malaysia Closed Men 12’s.

Over 1,500 paddlers from 15 countries in 48 teams participated in the two-day event since Oct 29.
