KUCHING, Nov 24: Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Tupong branch has unanimously agreed that top positions in the party should not be contested in its convention scheduled to take place early next year.

Tupong assemblyman Dato Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman said the branch also agreed that Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg should remain the party’s president.

“We also propose that Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas and Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan remain as deputy presidents unopposed including for Dato Sri Fadillah Yusof and Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom to remain as senior vice presidents unopposed,” he told reporters after attending the PBB Tupong branch triennial general meeting yesterday (Nov 23).

Fazzrudin said that among others, the PBB Tupong branch also fully supports Abang Johari’s efforts in defending Sarawak’s rights on oil and gas resources, including the continental shelf.

He added this is by ensuring that existing policies and laws are strengthened to ensure the economic and sovereignty interests of Sarawak. — DayakDaily
