KUCHING, Feb 14: After 15 years of dedication and service, Miro Simuh has stepped down from his role in Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Youth wing, marking the end of an era in his political journey.
Reflecting on his time in the movement, he described it as a transformative experience that shaped his career and prepared him for greater responsibilities.
“These 15 years have been filled with joy and invaluable lessons, with only a few challenges along the way.
“Without this Youth platform, my political career might not have led me to become an elected representative,” he said in his speech at the party’s 16th Triennial General Meeting (TGM) of the Youth and Women’s Wing, held at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) today.
Miro was the first Bidayuh to be elected as the party’s Youth Chief in 2022.
Now 52 years old, he first joined PBB at the age of 24.
He was appointed as a PBB Youth exco member in 2012 before becoming Deputy Youth Chief in 2018.
Miro is currently the incumbent Serembu assemblyman.
In his farewell address, he expressed profound gratitude to the party’s leadership, particularly Party President Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, for entrusting him with the responsibility of leading PBB Youth for one term.
“I am deeply thankful for the support and confidence given to me. Together, we have successfully carried out numerous initiatives that strengthened the Youth movement,” he remarked.
He also extended his appreciation to fellow Youth Supreme Council (MKT) members for their unwavering support and acknowledged the mentorship of former Youth Chiefs—Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, Dato Sri Fadillah Yusuf, and Dato Gerald Rentap Jabu.
Miro is expected to be succeeded by Kedup assemblyman Datuk Martin Ben. — DayakDaily
