KUCHING, Feb 11: Datuk Martin Ben has been named the new Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Youth chief, taking over from Miro Simuh.
The party’s Election Committee chairman, Datuk Awang Bemee Awang Ali Basah, made the announcement during a press conference following the drawing of ballot numbers at PBB headquarters today.
“Until this term ends, Miro will continue holding the post,” he said, clarifying that Miro’s withdrawal was not due to an age limit, as there is no such restriction for the position.
When met by DayakDaily afterward, Miro explained that his decision to step down was to allow new leaders to take charge.
His move reflects PBB’s longstanding tradition of leadership renewal, where senior members voluntarily step aside to provide opportunities for younger leaders to rise within the party.
The official confirmation of Martin Ben’s appointment will be made during PBB’s 16th Triennial General Meeting (TGM) or PBB Convention, which is scheduled to take place at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) from Feb 14 to 16. — DayakDaily
