Newly issued SOPs for party meetings.

KUCHING, Dec 5: Political party meetings for fully vaccinated individuals are capped at 50 per cent of the premises’ capacity during the 12th Sarawak Election.

According to the Election Commission (EC) in a statement today, under the newly issued Covid-19 prevention standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the 12th Sarawak Election, party members must also practice physical distancing of at least one metre.

Among others, symptomatic or positive individuals for Covid-19 or close contacts to a positive case are not allowed to attend party meetings.

The frequency of party meetings are also not allowed to exceed four times a week and should not be held longer than two hours per meeting.

Apart from that, all individuals attending the meeting are required to wear face masks at all times, and the shaking of hands among party members, including any form of activity involving body contact are also prohibited.

The committee explained that a party meeting also means a meeting activity with the layout of a place to meet and not for briefing sessions or talks or any other form of physical campaigning.

Meanwhile, for press conferences held after party meetings, EC said it is allowed to be held with compliance to physical distancing and wearing of face masks.

The attendance of individuals involved in the press conference is only limited to individuals present during the meetings and journalists who have completed their vaccination.

At the same time, individuals who are symptomatic or Covid-19 positive, including those who have had close contact with positive cases, are not allowed to attend the press conference. ― DayakDaily
