Sarawak Election SOP guidelines for symptomatic individuals provided by the Election Commission.

KUCHING, Dec 5: Voters who exhibit Covid-19 symptoms such as fever, cough, sore throat or shortness of breath will be segregated away from the polling centres immediately and be stationed at a special voting camp to cast their votes during the upcoming 12th Sarawak Election.

Early voting falls on Dec 14 and polling on Dec 18.

The Election Commission (EC) in updated standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the 12th Sarawak Election today said for symptomatic voters, the ink, which signals proof of voting will be marked on their left index finger using disposable brushes.

The commission said these voters must wear double face masks and disposable gloves before touching the ballot paper and proceeding to the voting area in the special camp.

Election workers who are supervising symptomatic individuals throughout the election process are required to abide by the procedures laid out such as wearing personal protective equipment (PPE).

The commission added voters who are designated as Persons-Under-Investigation (PUI) and Persons-Under-Surveillance (PUS) must apply for permission from the District Health Officer to temporarily leave their quarantine centres to cast their votes.

They will be allowed to vote at a special camp provided.

The EC said PUI and PUS voters must use their own vehicles to the polling centres while the use of public transport is prohibited

The EC pointed out that Covid-19 patients are not allowed to cast their votes. — DayakDaily
