KUCHING, July 16: Deeply disappointed with the Land Code (Amendment) Bill, 2018 that was passed last Thursday, Sarawak for Sarawakians (S4S) will use its 722 Parade at Padang Merdeka here this July 22 to air its discontentment.

The event organiser, Dinis Repong, said in a statement today that in order to protect the rights of the natives, especially their native customary rights (NCR) land, Dayaks at the parade would be allowed to express their views unhindered.

He called on all natives, especially those who wanted to protect their NCR land, to be at the parade.

Dinis said the four objectives of the parade are: to fight for the return of Sarawak’s status as enshrined in the Malaysia Agreement 1963, to pressure the Sarawak Government to pass the Referendum Act by the end of 2018, to regain 100 per cent of the state’s autonomous rights by 2018, and to pressure the state government to grant protection over NCR land by adopting the Land Ordinance of Sarawak High Court 1959.

Participants of the 722 Parade are expected to be at the Reservoir Park car park between 6am and 8.30am. The march to Padang Merdeka will start at 9am. The gathering at Padang Merdeka will be from 10am till noon. — DayakDaily
