Parliament: RM38.65 mln allocated to rebuild dilapidated school buildings in Tanjong Manis in 2023

KUALA LUMPUR, March 12: Last year, the federal government allocated RM38.65 million to reconstruct dilapidated school buildings in Tanjong Manis.

In a TVS news report, Education Deputy Minister Wong Kah Woh said of the amount, RM11.91 million has been spent.


He told Parliament: “For this year, RM16.98 million has been approved for reconstruction and repair of dilapidated school buildings in various construction phases involving 12 projects.”

He said this in response to Yusuf Abd Wahab (GPS–Tanjong Manis), who asked the Education Ministry about the total cost spent to repair dilapidated schools in his constituency throughout 2023 and the funds allocated for 2024, including the number of schools involved.

In addition, Wong said that since 2016, several projects implemented involving SK St Andrew, SK Sungai Selidap, SK Bukit Kinyau, SK Muara Payang, and SK Kampung Serdeng were completed.

He added that the projects included building four quarters that were completed on Feb 24, 2022.

“There are ten projects still in the pre-construction phase, and the ministry is committed to ensuring that all projects are completed according to schedule,” he said. — DayakDaily
