Overnight downpour in Kuching floods several areas, cuts off roads

KUCHING, Feb 16: The water level rose in several areas in Kuching following an overnight downpour, cutting off road connectivity.

According to a report from Civil Defence Force (APM) Sarawak today, in Kampung Sinar Budi in Desa Wira, water has risen to four feet, cutting off road connectivity to the area as the water level continues to rise.

As of 9.34am, about 45 houses were affected by the flood, and residents have been evacuated to a temporary relief centre at Dewan Masyarakat Stapok.

Meanwhile, at Jalan Stakan (Jamboree), road connectivity to several houses was also cut off due to the flood. None of the residents were evacuated as the water level has receded.

An estimated ten houses in the 9th Mile housing area were affected by a flash flood this morning.

However, no evacuation was conducted as the water level has subsided. — DayakDaily
