KUCHING, Aug 19: The new RM405,000 Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) office for the Asar Pinyawa Development and Culture Association (PKKAP) in Kampung Gayu is expected to be completed by December, following delays that pushed the project from its original 2025 schedule.
According to a report by the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development Dato Sri Roland Sagah Wee Inn said the project had been delayed due to several technical factors but was able to commence this year.
He said the project was initially allocated RM405,000 under RTP 2025, but the delay had resulted in an increase in construction costs.
“The cost previously given for this project was RM405,000, but due to delays in implementation caused by technical factors, the cost has also increased.
“However, the important thing is that, for a start, this project has been implemented,” he said.
He said this at the Thanksgiving and Symbolic Ceremony for the New Building of the PKKAP Office at the Kampung Gayu Multipurpose Hall here on Tuesday (Aug 18).
Sagah, who also serves as Tarat assemblyman, expressed hope that construction would be completed according to the schedule set by the contractor and the Public Works Department (JKR).
He also called on PKKAP to ensure the building is properly maintained and utilised after its completion.
Beyond serving as the association’s office, he said the facility could be used to generate income through programmes and activities that benefit the local community.
“This building should be used to generate income for the use of the association, for example through programmes related to the area or for public use such as weddings and banquets,” he said. — DayakDaily
