SIBU, Dec 15: Two maintenance workers, engaged in repairing roadside lamp posts, tragically lost their lives today when a 4WD vehicle crashed into them.
The incident occurred near the Sibu-Bintulu flyover on Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman around 11.20am today.
The two victims, aged 27 and 59, were diligently working when a 60-year-old man behind the wheel lost control of his vehicle.
Sibu District Police Chief ACP Zulkipli Suhaili reported that the vehicle veered into the opposite side of the road and struck the two workers.
“The older victim succumbed to his injuries on the spot, while the other man was swiftly transported to the hospital. Unfortunately, he later succumbed to his serious injuries,” he said.
Authorities are currently investigating the incident under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. — DayakDaily
