SIBU, Sept 24: A PKR coordinator strongly believes that party supremo Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has the number to form a new Federal Government.
PKR Sibu coordinator Robert Lim when contacted today, asserted that it was “only a matter of time” before Anwar became the new prime minister.
“Tan Sri Muhyddin Yassin’s government won’t last long. So it is either Muhyddin dissolves the parliament and call for a snap election or Anwar takes over,” he said.
On Wednesday, the Port Dickson and PKR president said he had a “strong, formidable majority” to form a new Federal government.
Anwar, in declining to reveal the number, said he would first like to have an audience with Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah. The meeting scheduled yesterday was postponed due to the Agong’s hospitalisation.
“There is no better person other than Anwar to lead the country. He will be a multi-racial Prime Minister. I believe it (new government) will happen soon,” enthused Lim.
Lim believed that Anwar would receive the backing of UMNO’s MPs to enable him to set up the new Federal Government.
“He was formerly from UMNO. So it is natural that MPs from UMNO will give him their backing,” he said.
Lim, however said the outcome of the Sabah state election this Saturday, would also determine whether Anwar’s new Federal Government will materialise.
“A big win by Warisan led by Shafie Aqdal will possibly pave the way for the formation of a new Federal government,” he said.
Separately, he said the new PKR Sibu division office at Jalan Kampung Dato commercial area will begin operation in October.
“I am restructuring the Sibu branch with the recruitment of new members. It has not been easy due to lack of funding,” he said. — DayakDaily
